A long day in LA

June 16, 2010 started early in Wamuran for Bill and Liz, Bendigo for Laura. We met at Sydney and QANTAS provided an excellent service on the new 380 Airbus to LA. After settling into our room, a decision was made to 'push on' through the day, despite none of us having slept much on the flight. The public bus down to Santa Monica was an experience. Finding suitable food for me was not so easy. As a result, by 3pm we ended up at good old McDonalds, where a salad could be bought. A bus up to Venice Beach for the 'cultural experience' - one where we felt that many people had been frozen in time during the 1960s! A fairly complex bus trip back to the hotel required 3 buses, but gave us the opportunity to stop in at a supermaket for some supplies for dinner and breakfast. As I type this at 7.45pm, Bill and Laura are both soundly sleeping after one of the longest days of our lives!
